WESTLAKE, LOUISIANA (USA) – Fifty years of innovation and technology at Sasol’s Lake Charles Chemical Complex will be commemorated on Saturday, October 22, with a Community Open House. The event will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Sasol’s Administrative Building on Houston River Road in Westlake.
The Open House will include chemistry demonstrations, tours, informational booths and an interactive timeline. Activities for children such as jumps, face painting and games will also be provided. The first 500 adults and children who register will receive special gifts. Door prizes include HDTV’s and other popular electronic devices. All activities, food and drinks will be free to the public.
A ceremonial groundbreaking will also take place inside the plant grounds to celebrate the construction of the new Tetramerization unit. Just as the Alcohol Unit of 1961, was hailed as a technological marvel, this new facility will be the first of its kind in the world.
The event is open to the public at no charge. The open house provides the community with an opportunity to learn more about Sasol’s plant processes, products and people with hands-on educational activities. The interactive timeline will highlight the history of the Lake Charles Chemical Complex and a number of retirees will be involved in the timeline by sharing their stories.
