Sasol, in partnership with its project contractors, the Calcasieu Business and Career Solutions Center and community partners, will host a job readiness forum for local residents.
WESTLAKE, La. – Area residents interested in learning about job opportunities available with Sasol’s expansion project and training available to become qualified for them will have their chance next month.
Sasol will host a job readiness forum on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at the Lake Charles Civic Center from 11 a.m. – noon for veterans only and noon – 7 p.m. for the general public. Attendees will be able to meet with Sasol, its Louisiana contractors, local craft training providers and resource-based organizations to learn about job opportunities, training availabilities, financial assistance and support services available in the community.
“Sasol is delivering on our Louisiana First commitment to hiring local people and using local contractors,” said Michael Hayes, public affairs manager for Sasol. “This forum will provide information about available jobs to enable community members can get the training and resources they need to be prepared for opportunities.”
To date, Sasol has hired more than half of the 500-plus employees it expects to hire for the project. Nearly 90 percent of those hired are from Louisiana, many from Calcasieu Parish. The majority of the more than 5,000 temporary jobs will be available through Sasol’s major Louisiana contractors.
